The 2030 Challenge was issued with the simple goal of getting new and existing buildings to use only half the energy they normally do. The goal then becomes more aggressive over the coming years, resulting in "net zero" buildings by the year 2030. Resource Engineering Group has embraced this challenge, and we created a poster (see below) and spreadsheet tool to help others understand and achieve the goal. The poster covers the basic concepts of passive solar design and offers a review of energy and carbon units and how they relate to buildings.

One of the challenges in tackling the 2030 Challenge is the lack of good baseline data. REG is gathering data for real-world comparisons of building energy use. Our downloadable spreadsheet allows owners to easily gather data about existing buildings and quickly see their energy impacts in dollars, btu’s, or carbon emissions.
